Ice field Flight-seeing – A Spectacular Birdseye View
Glaciers

Flying over an ice field with the notorious Devil’s Thumb peak in the background.

There is nothing quite as spectacular as a flight-seeing airplane trip over the ice fields and glaciers on a nice day. This is an activity that we highly recommend for all of our guests and is well worth the cost. There are two methods of taking a flight-seeing trip. The first alternative is to arrive at least a day before your cruise and take a prearranged flight-seeing trip. And the other method is to have one of the planes fly out and meet the Northern Song on our cruise.

We work only with the best of the best commercial bush pilots that own their own aircraft and are professionals with perfect track records. The companies that we work with fly up-to-date Cessna 185 airplanes on floats.

Nordic Air

Doug Reimer is a second-generation Southeast Alaska commercial pilot. Much of Doug’s summer is spent flying for one of the larger seafood companies where he is up nearly every day performing parts and personnel runs and fish spotting for both the processing company and fishermen.

Pacific Wings

Fly to the location of your Dreams. Take a trip to see amazing glaciers, see abundant Alaskan wildlife or visit the unspoiled wilderness. Whatever you want to do, Pacific Wing will give specialized service to make that trip a memorable one.

Temsco Helicopter Tours

Explore by air and you will understand why renowned explorer John Muir, in 1879, described the LeConte Glacier as one of the “most imposing and first-class glaciers” he had ever seen. Marvel at the beauty and grandeur of this southernmost active tidewater glacier in North America. From towering icebergs to deep, jagged crevasses, this journey is breathtaking.

Majestic Ice-fields & Mountains

“…Oh, and did I mention the sea plane flight over Baird, Patterson and LeConte glaciers? Dennis strongly suggested getting a bird’s eye view, and we are most appreciative for this.”
